Japan in the Foreign Imagination
外国のマスコミに描かれた日本
Tuesdays 3rd Period
Room 515
Grading Options
There are two grading options for this course: (1) write a
research paper or (2) write an essay examination. Those who
write a research paper are encouraged to either (1) make a
class presentation or (2) allow their paper to be shared
with other students. Not making a presentation or not
allowing the paper to be shared will have no impact on the
grading.
The two handouts below describe the two options for graded
work.

version of the course outline differs from that in versions
of the syllabus found on Keio web sites. This version is
correct.
-
Student Survey
This survey is intended to help the instructor to get
a sense of the background of the students taking this
course. It has nothing to do with registration as such.
-
Handouts and Readings Archive - (Just Systems)
This is the primary archive for handouts and readings for
this course. With some exceptions, paper copies of handouts
and readings will NOT be distributed in class. It is
your responsibility to either read the materials online or
make your own paper copies for reading offline.
-
Print is suffering, but English readers have never had it so
good An article in The Japan Times listing many English
language publications (print and net) aimed at foreigners in
Japan. Useful for knowing the resident foreigner image of
Japan.
